Asbestos Abatement Monitoring
TTL provided air monitoring and testing services during asbestos abatement activities during renovation including the floor tile, mastic, and chases at Veterans Administration buildings. TTL personnel reviewed the abatement contractor’s abatement plan and certifications, and established background air quality levels prior to abatement. Abatement of ACM was performed in accordance with specifications issued as part of the VA contract. TTL personnel conducted air sampling during each day of asbestos abatement and continued to conduct air sampling upon project completion in accordance with the work plan, sampling schedule, and other contract documents. TTL personnel performed unannounced visits to spot check overall compliance of work with contract specifications and conducted a final inspection and testing of the regulated areas at the conclusion of the abatement to certify compliance with all regulations and VAMC requirements and specifications.
TTL performed asbestos abatement oversight during the Building 41 renovation project at the Albuquerque VAMC as VPIH. Abatement of ACM was performed in the primary care, renal dialysis and new acute psychiatry unit of Building 41 in accordance with specifications issued as part of the contract. TTL personnel established background air quality levels before abatement began, and performed continuous environmental air quality monitoring, inspections, and testing outside the regulated areas during actual abatement work to detect any faults in the regulated areas’ isolation and any adverse impact on the surroundings from regulated area activities. TTL personnel also performed unannounced visits to spot-check overall compliance of work with contract specifications and provided support to the VA representative, including evaluation of submittals from the contractor, resolution of conflicts, and interpretation of data. TTL personnel performed the final inspection and testing of the decontaminated regulated areas at the conclusion of the abatement to certify compliance with all regulations and VA requirements and specifications.
